Reviews

The gig was fabulous. Robyn never ceases to amaze and surprise. His voice sounded really strong, and Emma's voice has really matured since I last saw her do her own set ten years ago at the Cecil Sharpe House gig in Primrose Hill. The acoustics and sound mix was excellent, it's a shame I didn't record it this time. The venue wasn't full by any means, but Robyn didn't seem disappointed with the turnout at all and is hoping to return to the Transport Museum next year.

From Robyn on Facebook:

For many years Ipswich, to me, was a mythical place where as a 10-year-old I had once glimpsed - or imagined I glimpsed - some newly-decommissioned trolleybuses through the window of a passing train. As a nascent obsolete-electric-traction freak this was a big deal for me, but there was little follow-up until 58 years later I had the good fortune to serenade several lovingly-preserved trolleybuses in the Ipswich Transport Museum. I also got to serenade a slew of well-preserved Ipswich folk, who seemed to enjoy the occasion: now I’m a fairly regular feature on the local entertainment scene, despite being based thousands of miles away in Nashville, Tennessee.
Last night in autumnal East Anglia Emma, Rick and I had a well-lit evening in the Church last night, looming through the haze and green polka-dot lighting. Outside, bats flittered in the twilight; inside, long-time listeners gathered for the ceremony. Gigs in churches tend to bring out the celebrant in me: peace be with you, Groovers.
