From Robyn on Substack A few hours later, I was onstage in the small church that is also a town hall in one of the beach communities that make up the 30A Songwriters Festival. I was struggling to get my guitar in tune, and I couldn’t say I was lifting up the hearts of the audience the way that Mavis Staples had. Still, I was joined for harmonies on my last two numbers by none other than Kelly Hogan, one half of the angel duo that sang with Mavis that afternoon. The mood soared for the final part of my set, and Hogan and I slipped off afterwards to celebrate in a nearby bar.
