Kim joined the Softs in Oct/Nov 1977. Originally as a dep for three London gigs (he was still in the Waves with Alex Cooper pre-Katrina) and then replacing Alan Davies in 77.
I have a live reel to reel tape of the Soft Boys (recorded on an Akai M10) at The Alma Brewery Nov 1977. One set had Kim on guitar and the other set had Alan Davies on guitar. I did the PA that night.
Alan joined my band [The Lonely] in 1978.
Kim started using a 60s strat in the Soft Boys. He still has the ‘69 SG Special.
He started guesting and playing with us in the mid to late 80s through the 90s and early 00s and is on three of my bands albums.
Here he is with us in the 90s playing a festival on Parker’s piece in Cambridge. He’s playing a white Gibson 347.
