Jessica Lee Morgan opened

In less salubrious environs than yesterday, I saw Robyn play Reading, Berkshire, England at the modern looking 'South Street Arts Centre'. Jessica Lee Morgan again opened the gig (who hails from this area in Shiplake). It was lovely to see Morris Windsor play with Robyn. What struck me was his dynamics and powerful backing vocals. Morris sung the last line of the night on 'Airscape' which Jessica Lee Morgan had done at yesterday's gig.

Here's some excerpts from Robyn's stage banter:

'There's a system used by Keith Richard whereby if he's in tune, a red light is reflected back to him by a roadie by the side of the stage.'

'God sits in an Alan Rickman like splendor with his toenails clipped'

Robyn introduced 'Raymond and the Wires' explaining that the song was about his late father Raymond in 1964 when they journeyed together for the first time on a trolleybus. This was the same year that 'A Hard Day's Night Was Released'

Robyn explained that he has written two songs that reference Raymond Chandler. Chandler has two graves, both of which are located within the same cemetery.

Robyn asked the soundman to 'make me sound like I'm singing in a darkened room in the Thames Valley, on the verge of the equinox' (which in fact he was! - The Autumnal Equinox takes place tomorrow in the Northern Hemisphere)
