Online review by 'My Kingdom for a Melody', translated to English belowYesterday had not been my best day far from it, quite the opposite and I decided in an act of courage and courage of those who no longer remain, buy the ticket to see Robyn Hitchcock and I think I was totally right. I needed a concert with a calm, leisurely and redemptive vibe, and that's just what it was. The structure of the concert was that Emma Swift, an Australian singer who accompanies Robyn Hitchcock on his tour, performed first, unknown to me and who pleasantly surprised me by a beautiful voice, which was accompanied by her guitar. For obvious reasons I don't know what songs she played, since I don't know her discography.
In the second part (and longer) it was the turn of the main protagonist of the night, the British Robyn Hitchcock, who from the first chord of his guitar showed that he is an out of series, because he not only sings and gives you different suitable tones to the song, but on top of that he plays the guitar in such a way that he is marking a different step for you, he even plays the box as percussion when necessary, as if that were the rhythmic basis of the song, in addition to his peculiar way of playing the guitar, unusual.
He performed songs such as My wife and my dead wife, Glass hotel, Madonna of the wasps, Somebody to break your heart, San Francisco Patrol, Trouble in your blood (these from his latest work The Man Upstairs), Adventure rocket ship, Full moon in my soul, Museum of sex (in which he approached the public and spoke to us) etc., and a version of More Than this by Roxy Music already in the encores, which I loved.
In the last part Emma came out to accompany the voices of Robyn in several of the songs, notably the Linctus house, or Queen Elvis, for example.
