Great show last night in Sellersville. Robyn still did the show seated - seemed to be in a lot of pain, and afterward when I met him in the lobby it seemed like he was tired and on some kind of painkillers, poor man. Whatever physical problems he was having didn't reflect in his performance, though.
(He didn't seem to remember our interview from six weeks ago - or perhaps he's just had so many of them lately that they all blur together. But I did slip him a copy of my story for him to read, if he didn't lose it somewhere between the lobby and backstage.)
I'd write more, but I have a few other things to finish up tonight. I just wanted to file my setlist for the record. ;)
Does anyone know the new songs I describe below?
SET LIST
Adventure Rocket Ship
Sally Was a Legend
Chinese Bones
Ole! Tarantula
Queen of Eyes
N.Y. Doll
NEW SONG: chorus is "I'm gonna see you in the afterlife" (it was so new
that Robyn fluffed a bit of the chorus, so they redid it later!)
If You Were A Priest
When I Was A Kid
Vibrating
Television
NEW SONG: not sure how to describe this one - something about "you must
have seen it coming" and the "scar of Venus"
Jewels for Sophia
Madonna of the Wasps
The Authority Box (an antidote to Christmas music!)
Briggs
Driving Aloud (Radio Storm)
Encore:
Days of Wine and Booze (Minus 5)
Afterlife reprise (see above)
Bells of Rhymney (Pete Seeger)
I Wanna Destroy You
Then he and the band went into the lobby and somehow had a second encore, this time acoustic. It was great for those in the lobby, but for the rest of us trapped at the back of the theater, not so much...
Open the Door, Homer (Dylan)
Aw, Shit, Man (Minus 5)
Viva! Sea-Tac
Underground Sun
Twilight Distillery (Minus 5)
