Going solo once more, and following a bit part as Laurent Tokar, a sinister operative in Jonathan Demme's remake of The Manchurian Candidate, Robyn Hitchcock was in town in for a weekend of shows in Brooklyn and Hoboken. Mr. Hitchcock, resplendent in purple trousers with a red shirt as well as a chartreuse one, kindly took the drive out to the WFMU studios for a live set. Unfortunately, he didn't want to be photographed, and unless I can figure out how to download a still shot from a DVD, you'll have to take my word on how great he looked. Robyn showcased a few tunes from his newest album, "Spooked," on YepRoc and a couple of surprises. -Irene Trudel 2002 (WFMU Playlist & Streaming Archive for Irene Trudel's show)
