Since its foundation in the 1870s, the hotel has been named the Crimean Hotel,the Central Family Hotel, the Central Club Hotel, then the Grand Central, & back to its current name, the Central Club Hotel.

Located near the corner of Swan and Coppin St, The Central Club Hotel holds a special place in the proud history of the Melbourne pub scene. The building was originally constructed and opened in the 1870s.
