Info from Wikipedia
Waterloo Records is an independent music and video retailer in Austin, Texas, which has been an integral part of Austin's music scene since 1982.
The store takes its name, "Waterloo," from the original name of Austin, briefly adopted in 1839 after being designated as the new capital of the Republic of Texas.
Waterloo regularly hosts in-store performances featuring live performances by local and internationally known artists of all genres, especially during the South by Southwest conferences and festivals during which they host up to 10 bands a day at their festival.

On April Fools’ Day 1982, Waterloo Records founder Louis Karp opened the original store at 221 S. Lamar. A few months later, he took on John Kunz as an equal partner. Five years later, Karp left to pursue other interests. Then in 1989, Kunz moved and expanded the store to 600 N. Lamar. This year, Kunz brought on majority partners Caren Kelleher and Trey Watson to move and expand the store to 1105 N. Lamar later this spring.
