Comments
Muriel's Hoof/The Rout of the Clones is the Soft Boys' take on "Bryan O'Lynn/The Hag With the Money," an early Steeleye Span tune (on Please to See the King, 1971) interpreting the classic Irish jig Bryan O'Lynn. The Soft Boys added it to their setlists starting in 1978 and ultimately released it posthumously under the new name (on Invisible Hits in 1983 and as a bonus track on Can of Bees in 2011). It is not entirely clear who should get author credit, but perhaps because it comes from a traditional tune, the arrangement appears to be credited to Robyn Hitchcock.
