Kiss my anxiety Tell me everything is gonna stay Right here where we put it And we'll stop the clock forever, here today Across the shifting sands I'm clutching for your hands On the beach where the sun doesn't move On the beach where the sun doesn't move You're my favorite animal There's no word for how you make me feel Everything about you is impossible But it is all so (*also?) real Above the midnight sky I'll kiss you when I die On the beach where the sun doesn't move Yeah, on the beach where the sun doesn't move Graham Greene and J.G. Ballard Got me in the groove On the beach where the sun doesn't move (Ahh, don't move for me, baby!) Music is a form of prayer Hard to learn the Mazzik, hear the bell (*see NOTE below) I'm in love with all my friends And my enemies as well And everything you do Comes screaming back at you On the beach where the sun doesn't move Yeah, on the beach where the sun doesn't move Nothing can be verified Nothing can be proved On the beach where the sun doesn't move ============= *NOTE: This is the line that I'm most uncertain about. After some research, I discovered that the "Mazzik" is an invisible demon in Hebrew mythology, which would certainly fit in with RH's recurring themes, and mesh w/ the prior line about music being a form of prayer (along with the "friends/enemies" in the subsequent lines). "Hard to learn the Mazzik" was my guess since music/prayer may make it hard to encounter a demon, "hear the bell" - perhaps a church bell's musical chime may ward off demons? This was my thinking, anyway. But that's a tough line!
