Here’s two songs cut with the English Band in 2003.
“Butterfly” aims for a relaxed state of mind which is utterly beyond me, but I do glimpse it from time to time, refracted through a bulb of glass in a distant window. Terry Edwards laces the dub groove with muted trumpet and dreamy keys: Kimberley Rew plays a corkscrew riff and I clank around it on my Telecaster. Paul Noble on bass and Morris Windsor on drums anchor the feeling and float across the fields with it. We’re not exactly walking on sunshine, but quite near it.
