In the full length video of the appearance the host, Dave Kendall, says this is the same night that Robyn and the Egyptians played at Tramps in NYC (September 12) - however, it's not clear when exactly the interview took place. The live clips from Tramps may have been taped on the 12th and the other bits taped Sept 15th - archivist Scott F noted his tape is labeled as such.
Per 120Minutes.org, this episode was broadcast on September 22, 1991 (at their new 11pm time slot!)
Also per 120minutes.org, there was apparently a clip played on the Sept 15 episode in which he talks about his new video. There was also mention made of the fact that Perspex Island was the #1 college album at the time.
