Reviews

From 'Sawyer Sessions' description on YouTube
Robyn Hitchcock is a musician whose presence commands attention the moment he walks into a room. Whether it’s his colorful persona, astute sense of style, or his ability to tell the most interesting stories through song involving characters only imagined by someone as creative as himself, Robyn Hitchcock is one of the great unsung singer-songwriters of our generation.

What better way to share his presence than to arrange a surprise live Sawyer Session recording at Cup A Joe’s new location in downtown Hillsborough, NC. Owned and operated by husband and wife team (and huge Robyn Hitchcock fans) Brooke Erceg and Ryan Creery, Cup A Joe was busy brewing, and serving some of the town’s best coffee and baked goodies up until they closed the shop for the English singer’s arrival that evening.

With a new self-titled album out April 21st, Robyn gave his audience a solo-electric taste of what’s to come and performed some new tracks from the LP including “Mad Shelley’s Letterbox”, ”Sayonara Judge”, “I Want To Tell You About What I Want”, and surprised his biggest fans with a cover from his former band The Soft Boys, “I Wanna Destroy You”, and even one from The Beatles with “A Day In The Life”. Grab a cup of coffee, throw some head-phones on and/or turn it loud because Robyn Hitchcock brought a change of shirts to rock you through.
