Hello ... Robyn here, courtesy of my invisible friend Mr Ripley. It's great to be in the Collective Unconscious - it's dark but resonant and I can just see remote eyes gazing at me like watery headlights at the mouth of the tunnel. Thought you might like to know that I'm doing a gig in Prague this Saturday April 16. Also another solo gig in Portsmouth on April 29. This summer we should have two new tapes available by mail order. One is a tape of my short stories, with music by Andy, myself and others: I'm hoping to persuade the legendary James Fletcher to read one of them but he is traumatized from finding his linen-key in a sneaker. The other tape will be the SOFA BOYS live in London and Cambridge last January. The SOFT bOYS U.S. tour is looking unlikely this year, but you never know. We certainly don't. Kindly Mr Ripley has brought me a hot drink, and is now chopping up logs in the back yard. It's spring and Jamie Metcalfe is seven weeks old. Meanwhile me and the other Pyramids are working on our new album, Surfer Ghost, which should be out next year, if there is one. Also a host of back catalogue stuff, including trillions of unreleased tracks, should be available soon. This won't be on A&M by the way. Also in the almost graspable future are solo gigs from me in Canada, and all of us (including Sean, our lovley new guitarist) in Moscow and St. Petersburg. My time is nearly up : the pale dawn of dusk is at the hill, and I must crow no more. Mr Ripley cannot be reached by swimming upstream, but Mrs Wafflehead does a pretty good impersonation.

I bought Robyn a pint and he played like three of my requests. Raining twilight Coast was one, I feel like devils coachmen might've been another one.
That was also the first time Joe Strummer ever played Clash songs since The Clash broke up - I read that in an article many years later. He played with this Czech band that sounded exactly like The Clash lol and then they would speak to the audience in Czech between songs. I remember most of his set – London Calling, brand new Cadillac, I fought the law, garageland, police and thieves. White riot. Guns on the roof. I fought the law was intense – the wall had just come down like the year before. The crowd flipped out - I still get chills thinking about that moment.
