what do listeners think about
GLASS FLESH?

A digital masterpiece by any measure, Glass Flesh will ROCK YOUR ARSE OFF! there are covers on the cd that can more than stand on their own.  in fact, some of them would have been the better rendition of some songs, i.e. st. petersburg (a difficult tune in my mind, done some justice on the cd). the price for Glass Flesh is more than worth it--given the talent, rarity (soon to be) of it, the effort by bayard (yeah!) and considering how much money you might have spent on seemingly similar robyn recordings.  p.s. bayard--it may have taken time eternal, but the wait was more than worth it--thanks!     .chris

Bravo Bayard and all who helped with the making of Glass Flesh! It is simply wonderful. It sounds so much better than the cassettes (and it's more, well, lavender, too). And when you turn it sideways on, it's nearly not there. I was especially delighted with the typeface selection....Good work. No, GREAT WORK!  This has got to be the coolest list on the net by far... Scott Hunter McCleary

All I can say is "Wow!" I didn't know there was so much talent on this list! Bayard, the CD is top-notch and extremely well-done, and for all you folks out there who've contemplated buying one but haven't yet---do it... It's definitely worth it. Thanks again--I'm getting a lot of enjoyment from it.  Sincerely, The Guambat   guambat@juno.com

We got our copy of "glass flesh" yesterday and i just wanted to let you all know how incredible i think it is; it's doing heavy-duty time in the player the last couple of days. if you haven't already gotten a copy, do so immediately! the songs are great (well, of course :) ), the performances top-notch, and the artwork, design, and layout are beautiful! everyone involved did an excellent job, made all the more impressive by the fact that it's a labor of love for them. and extra, extra special thanks have to go to bayard for coming up with the idea in the first place, and for his concern & customer service in getting the cd into my hands! lorrie

I received the copies of the Hitchcock tribute CD; thanks very much!  Quite interesting 'versions of the hits' and an excellent appearing package also. You've done a fantastic job! Could you please let me know if you happen to assemble anything else?    Best wishes, Del Field

Just wanted to say that anyone who's hedging about plunking down the dough for Glass Flesh should go ahead and do it. This is a damn fine CD! My particular fave is "Clean Steve (Knack Dennis)" by  Edward of Sim which I believe outshines the original. "Love" with the female vocal makes me melt. The punked out "Another Bubble" makes me pogo.  And the B Movie version of "Balloon Man" is just brilliant. I think the fact that Vic Chesnutt's contribution ranks just middle-of-the-pack (IMO) speaks volumes for the talent of the folks on this list. Excellent packaging, too. Kudos to everyone involved, 'specially Bayard for pulling the whole thing together.  Russ Reynolds, KSJO

GREAT JOB! The artwork looks grade A.   Did Robyn comment on it?  Bryan from Elf Power

I got my copy today!!! I've listened to it 3 times already. this is a masterfully done album, and i liked everything at least as much as the original versions of the songs. (and some even a little better.. shh! *grin*). Caroline, the cover art was great! In fact, the whole layout is excellent and gave me some ideas for a tape cover i'm to do for a local band... thanks for the inspiration! :) Will i stop gushing??? *sigh* i suppose so... *grin* A HUGE thank you to everyone who participated and made such a grand piece of ear-Turkish Delight. (ear-candy just doesn't seem fitting.. must get fancy on ya! ;) Off for a 4th listen.. LSDiamond ahardy@companet.net

I finally heard Glass Flesh (the CD) before I came over - and MAN does it sound good - it's really solid disc - so congrats to everyone involved...  jlaw@mem.unibe.ch

Got it last night. I am blown away by its professionalism - awesome job. Like most of the feglist, I'm pretty impressed with the contributions (e.g., I never realized how much better Love is with a woman's voice).  jpartridge@accel.com

Just got the CD the other day (thanks!). The artwork's brilliant as is the silkscreen on the CD. Excellent production/quality/liner notes, etc.I really haven't a bad thing to say about the disc. Thanks! Your hard work really paid off.  ferris@snet.net

I *Really* dig this...Cover art rocks, especially the back. That middle eye thing is freaky... The songs are great, too.   normal@grove.ufl.edu

Great stuff!! Everyone did one hell of a job.  Terry_Linnig@hccompare.com

I received the package on Friday and have been listening ever since. The CD looks and sounds great. It is a very professionally produced disc from both a sound quality and graphic standpoint, better than a lot of the stuff that I have seen in stores.  iggy@pluto.njcc.com

I've now had the chance to play "Glass Flesh" several times and I'm surprised just how good it is - the bluegrass version of Brenda's Iron Sledge is quite something.   Adrian Jones

"Glass Flesh is a pick of the litter from a three volume, 50 song cassette project that found life through the internet --- the object of desire being Robyn Hitchcock. The performances range from straight acoustic readings to quirky takes --- Vic Chesnutt's beat box version of "She Doesn't Exist" is an eye-popper. Glass Flesh succeeds because it is a labor of love, not just a label roster shuffled into the studio to crank out an assembly line project."  Thrust Quarterly

I love the CD. What a great job! I found it surprisingly refereshing to listen to. Some of the versions are truly inspired. What does Mr. H. think of it?  mbrage@aol.com

Glass Flesh is great. There are several tracks worthy of praise - but I would like to comment in particular on Vic Chesnutt's contribution, which is as usual for him a near destruction of the original (any of you who have his cover of 'It's The End Of The World...' will know what I'm talking about), but it's interesting none the less, and despite my disdain for the dance-mix-ness of it, I find myself liking that track too. Congratulations and thanks for all your work Bayard.  Steve Fountain fountxc@prairienet.org

Thank you for making this CD! This is a wonderful disc, truly a product born from a mixture of love, respect, and that kind of genial insanity found only among rare music collectors and goldfish fanciers.  quail@panix.com

"Thanks!"      -Robyn Hitchcock
